Edition De Luxe Set of The Works of Ralph Waldo Emerson. This Collective Works of six volumes was apparently published by The Nottingham Society. The Six publications in this set are titled as follows. II - Nature, Addresses And Lectures. V - English Traits, and.

VI - Conduct Of Life. This was obviously one of the very first printings because there is no date of publication or publisher listed or anything like that found anywhere in these books. The only thing that comes close is at the bottom of the Title Page it says. The pages actually look as though they were printed on an old typewriter... The print and paper have that look to it.

Many of the pages are still uncut. There is some water stained pages in Vol.

V and one front inside cover has a piece missing (see photos), otherwise these books are in surprisingly good shape for their age. Ralph Waldo Emerson was a brilliant.

He was born in 1803 and died in 1882. An essayist, poet, orator, philosopher, and abolitionist. His essay entitled "Nature" immediately became known as the Bible of American Transcendentalism after it was published in 1836. He was given high accolades for his Phi Beta Kappa address at Harvard entitled The American Scholar. His words still ring true today, maybe even more so than back then? In researching this set we couldn't find very much out there that matched this one exactly. In fact many of the sets of'his works' that we found had their Vol II as "POEMS" and our Vol. III is "POEMS", and there were obviously others out of order or missing, etc. So this set is rather unique and just may be worth more than we are asking, but..
