Rare, Hard-To_Find, VINTAGE SCUBA BOOK SET - 2 Old Training Manuals! So what's so special about The New Science of Skin & Scuba Diving? It was the most popular scuba text ever written, used by thousands of divers all over the world.

It was my own first text, 1960. But, here's a set that is very hard to find. This set includes a 1st Edition " Science Of Skin and Scuba Diving " PLUS a 1st Edition " The New Science of Skin and Scuba Diving " in the HARD COVER version!!

I didn't even know there was a hard cover version of this famous scuba text book! Many, many divers think that the'New Science of Skin & Scuba Diving' refers to the fact that scuba diving is a new sport. "New" means that the book is the new edition of the earlier'Science of Skin & Scuba Diving', an equally famous book but not nearly so well known. The original book was written by a dozen of the most famous divers and diving experts of the day.

Famous names and pictures appear on the cover - E. It was a complete text on scuba diving - Physics, Medicine, Environment, Self Contained Diving including rebreathers, Marine Life, First Aid, Dive Skills, Dive Planning and even How to Organize a Dive Club!

Of course, in those days all diving was done through clubs, not stores. The NEW Science book was largely a copy of the old one although I notice that the diagrams were much upgraded from the original amateurish style to a much newer, professional style. You can see what I mean by looking at the pictures. So here's a matching set of this famous old scuba text - the original Science AND a hard-cover version of the New Science. Both books are in near perfect condition - barely used as far as I can see.

Both books have an excellent dust cover. The original book has a plastic wrap over its dust cover so the cover is like new. There are a few scuffs and tears on the new book's dust cover but nothing is missing and it looks great.

There are no marks on the inside pages which are still clean and white. The owner's name is neatly printed on the inside cover of the new version. One comical note is on the inside back cover of the new book. That's the book that became the standard scuba text for most scuba organizations for many, many years. The original Science of Skin & Scuba Diving is rare & hard to find in decent condition. Here's a perfect one. The New Science of Skin & Scuba Diving in the hard cover version is also quite rare in good shape. Here is a set including both of these great vintage scuba books.

They are wonderful reading and the story of their relationship is a good story for old & new divers. I doubt you will ever see this combination in this condition again.
