Incredible piece of YA adventure literature history. Cast Up by the Sea by Sir S. Baker is a classic adventure tale of men fighting against the indifferent sea: danger and romance on the high seas. This incredibly rare antique edition from 1873 features an unbelievable gift inscription from September 25th, 1873.
The previous owner also added a small bird illustration to the first page, it's unclear how old it is but it appears to be from the 19th century as it is not a sticker. The frontispiece illustrations are still vivid and beautiful. The title illustration is still protected by tissue paper. The hardcover is in fair condition, with some damage on the spine leading to a section flapping free of the binding. The pages and binding otherwise are in good condition considering its age of nearly 151 years.
The text is clear of any annotations or markings. This is an heirloom quality piece for the discriminating collector.
