This is a rare, leather-bound, hand illustrated plates, satin-textured pages, 1906 book, Shakespeare on Poker. To create this turn of the century novelty book, the author, Martha Ballard, (chief of Land Division, US Surveyor-General's office in Denver, CO) painstakingly matched Shakespeare quotes in calligraphically, with illustrations of poker hands best described by them. The overall result is somewhere between art book and gift book Would make an excellent addition to any gambling, poker, theater, or Shakespeare collection. Overall good condition, cover has tear in upper right corner (see photo), original leather tie slipped out of center hole, minor yellowing of pages but no rips or tears on pages.
