Royal Prayers, Dedicated to Charles Emmanuel 1725 Antique Book Rare
A beautiful book, bound in vellum and richly illustrated with block sized grotesque and richly expressionistic faces, angels and symbols. The book was dedicated to Charles Emmanuel, the former duke of Savoy. The printer's mark on the title page shows a Phoenix regenerated from flames carrying the moto "POST FATA RESURGO" Post fata resurgo is a Latin phrase, which literally translated means "after death I get up" or "I return to life after misfortune" it is used to express confidence in one's ability to recover from misadventures and to overcome the adversities of their destiny. This was a typical printer's mark for the publisher Joannem Mansre in his works. The book is in overall good condition with some staining on the covers and minor browning of some of the pages.
