Photos carefully as they are part of the description. All of my books are VERY OLD and have 100+ years of wear to varying degrees. Boards - very secure, 1 small line of indentation front cover with some gilt touch-ups.

Good - both front and back joints have apx 2 of splitting [glued back down to prevent further splitting] -see last picture. Spine ends - very good. Very good - very light wear. Inner hinges - very good.

Pages - generally very clean, there are 10 tissue guarded plates in the book. 8 of them have staining picts. 9-11 / apx 5 other leaves have this staining only a bit lighter. Writing - "Christmas Greeting from Alfred" on ffep.

Rips /folds - 2 small rips that I saw - a few pages bumped at the top. Name in gilt on front cover = Julie E Sanders, Christmas 1874 what a very nice & expensive gift this was from Alfred, wonder if they got married? A NICE ONE FOR YOUR LIBRARY!
