RARE The Autobiography of Satan 1872 Occult Theology/Demonology Antique Book
An incredibly scarce antiquarian esoteric theology/demonology book. No known copies available online! Illustrated with historiographic frontispiece by W. 18.5x12 cm (7¼x4¾), bound in original pebbled purple cloth, lettering in gilt, with decorations and rules stamped in both black and gilt. A work aimed squarely at debunking any notion that Satanism as it existed could be considered a growth from biblical interpretation; Beard describes his aim in the preface as blow at Traditionalism, Sacerdotalism and Satanism.
John Relly Beard was an English Unitarian minister, schoolmaster, lecturer and translator who co-founded the Unitarian College Manchester. Condition: Slight rubbing to ends of sunned spine and corners of boards; front hinge cracked, rear hinge tender, text clean throughout; very good.
