Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales. Illustrated by Rie Cramer - 17 Tipped In Colour Plates & L. Published by Humphrey Milford, Oxford University Press. Reprint 1932 and book originally published in 1921. 23.5 cm x 17cm. Dark green cloth bound boards with gilt, blue and red decoration showing scenes from Andersen's fairy tales on the spine and upper board. Contains 32 Fairy Stories which include. The Emperor's New Clothes. The Princess and the Pea. The book is in good condition and all 17 plates are present. Boards are in good condition and gilt decoration is bright. Spine is in good condition and titles and decoration are bright. Noted spine cloth is a little slack, has a small vertical crease at top end and not as tight as it ideally should be but is good nonetheless.

Spine ends and board corners are bumped. Front hinge has weakened and some cracking noted to rear hinge but boards are securely attached and binding is holding up well. Endpapers are age toned with a few foxing marks but still very attractive. Foxing on margins of half title page, title page and contents pages and noted the contents page also has a small pencil tick next to the title of a story and please see image. Foxing on closed edge pages although not considered to be heavy foxing and the odd foxing mark in margins of text and backing page to plates but pages are clean.

Noted a few pages have been clumsily cut or roughly opened causing a slight loss on edges but text is not affected. Plates are all in good condition.

I try to keep postal costs as low as possible and books are always carefully well packed using a combination of acid free tissue, bubblewrap and corrugated card/cardboard. A multiple order will always be packed in a box. Magazines and paperback books are always dispatched in reinforced cardboard backed envelopes usually with additional cardboard.
