For sale is this extremely rare large Japanese book printed in 1697. This book was printed during the Genroku period of Japanese history using the wood block printing technique.

This was during the Edo period. The topic is a dictionary or encyclopedia, and includes descriptions and images of certain items. The pages are frail (possibly rice paper). This is a large book for the time (thick and wide).

It does have some substantial damage (see photos) and is missing the covers. The first several pages on the front and back are damaged with wrinkles, with bent corners, folds, bug holes, other damage.

The rest of the book may show these flaws or also possible drawing, marks, stains, and other blemishes. It came out of a private Japanese book collection, and would be a great addition to any collection!

There are several images printed in it throughout. This is an incredible piece! Great addition to any collection, and would look great on display! Be sure to check over the details and look at all of the photos so you will know exactly what youll get!
