Rare E. Kold Christensen Poul Kjaerholm 1957 boxed catalogue

  

Extremely rare loose leaf catalogue of Poul Kjaerholm furniture manufactured by E. Kold Christensen contained in a specially designed box. These sets were apparently given to retailers to give the cards to potential customers.

Comes with material samples on one square, a title card and a price list and 44 photographic card of Kjaerholm furniture photographed by Keld Helmer-Petersen (quite a few duplicates, see below). The following design number are included in the box.

Number 1 and Number 41 chair and table together 3 identical cards, No1 chair two different images 3 copies of each; No11 chair 3 images 3 copies of one of the images; 1 fold out of chair No 11 and table No 51; Chair Number 22 3 different images three copies of two of the images (cane and leather versions); Chair number 22 and table 61, one copy; table No 51, 2 different images, three of one. Table No 61 3 images, three of two; table No71, 2 images three of one. Sofa No80, 2 images three of one; candelabrum No 101 one image three copies of.

The Furniture of Poul Kjaerholm catalogue Raisonne. 2007, p 219 this catalogue dates from 1961 but if you look at the illustrations on the same page the same box with a sample card is illustrated. Possibly Sheridan has them dated the wrong way round and this is the catalogue that was produced from 1957 (see image). Condition: Outer box has is rubbed and discoloured in places and has a small tear on one of the edges.

The inner box has a tear along the bottom seam as can be seen in the images. The material sample is creased. Some cards have slight edge wear but most look like they have been in the box the last 60 years.
