A wonderful original hand-carved Black Forest bear extending book slide/trough/stand. With a fabulously carved bear at each end to support books with a sliding mechanism to take more or less books in a set. This was made at the height of the grand tour trade circa 1850.
Dimensions 15" wide (23.5" wide when open) x 7" high x 6.5" deep Lovely condition for its age, a small ding on one ear but not noticeable and obvious general wear and tear over the years (see pics) but that does not deter from this beautiful piece. This book trough extends out to hold more books, This would make a great addition to any collector. Please study photos to help gauge condition. I have been a black forest bear collector for years but now I have to make more space, hence the sale. I package every item extremely well and have not had any breakages to date. This is because they are the only UK service to offer protection for damage on delicate items.
