It depicts a woman with a comb in her hair wearing a red puffy-sleeve dress with yellow neck scarf and holding a book. The frame is wonderful - birds-eye maple with paint trim and ribbed detail and thick wavy glass with a couple bubbles. The framed piece measures 7.25 by 6.5 inches and the silhouette itself measures about 4 by 3 inches. Please look at the photos of the reverse of the silhouette which we have added. They confirm the age of the paper and the fine black cloth used for the hollow-cut covering.

Also look at the closeup of the cut-out. The profile is so finely done - including the lips and chin.
