While the idea serving me as a basis may have been conceived by others, and is intimated by Buffon, yet I may claim for the plan an originality that is likely to invite, if not excite, the criticisms of such strict scientists as hold tenaciously to the theory that there can be no common correspondence between geology and the Genetic account of creation...

Apx 700 animals , dinosaur bones too! Photos carefully as they are part of the description. All of my books are VERY OLD and have 100+ years of wear to varying degrees. For its age [131 years old].

Boards - very secure, some spots to the back cover, but nothing too bad for its age / bottom of the boards are worn. Pages secure, except one which is loose [shown] / textblock cracked once. Good -2 small splits to the edge of the front spine. Spine ends - both replaced with black ribbon top looks better than the bottom which is shown last picture. Worn & glued back together. Inner hinges - front 1 taped, back one not too bad. Pages - generally very clean but toned and some-what brittle.

You can flip through the pages fine, but be careful as you turn individual pages. Rips /folds - several rips - most small & most taped with doc. / some chipped edges / no bad folds that I saw. I have had 2 of these in my book career, and this one is in the best shape, the others were completely falling apart. Grab it if you want it - good copies are a rarity!

May have accumulated bad smells along the way [musty basement/ mildew/ smoke]. Dryer sheets in them for a few months makes a world of difference! My nose doesn't work like it use to. So the old book smell doesn't bother me. As far as I can tell -this book does not smell bad.
