Overall for a book that was printed over a century ago it has been well preserved. It does contain some of the normal wear one would expect from age. Marks and scratches to the cover in the most common areas around the spine and edges, small tears on the spine edge to the cover, slight toning to interior pages with occasional marks and spots. Retains a tight and strong binding, all pages and art holding very well, apart from the front title page (see photos) which has come away but still presentable. The book has deckled edges to the paper which leaves the paper with a slightly raw effect on the edges due to the process of binding - a lovely attribute to this wonderful book making it all the more charming. The book has an inscription on the back of the front cover dated'1899' a lovely attribute to when it would have been first published.
