RARE Antique 1918 THAT OTHER WORLD Spiritualism Psychic Occult Stuart Cumberland

  
Up for sale is this great and rare 1918 copy of Stuart Cumberland's That Other World. Stuart Cumberland was an English mentalist who preformed a variety of different mind reading acts. Much like Houdini, some psychical researchers thought that he had special powers, and like Houdini, Cumberland claimed to have no supernatural powers whatsoever and attributed his feats of thought reading to trickery. Also like Houdini, Cumberland was opposed to all the fraud occurring in the name of Spiritualism and felt a need to write a book dedicated to exposing the trickery used by psychics and mediums.

One of those books is this title, "That Other World, " which was written a few years before Houdini wrote his book, A Magician Among the Spirits. The book is overall in good condition with it's very scarce original dust jacket. The dust jacket has some missing pieces and some old tape repairs to its backside as illustrated in the photos. The binding of the book is good and the pages are mostly clean, just tanned from age, though there might be the occasional page with a very light and slight stain or smudge, creased page corner, small tear or other minor imperfection that comes with a book this age.

All in all a really great antique book that exposes the trickery of psychics, mediums, and spiritualism.
