RARE Antique 1870s SHORT HORN BULL CO Ledger BREEDER RECORD Grocery Account Book

  

Scarce to Rare antique Ledger that accounts a Breeder's Record as well as Grocery and General accounts. Can't quite make out place to the late 1880s. Other Ohio cities cited are BARNESVILLE, NEWARK, MAHONING CO, DELAWARE, GAMBIER and others. 4 included "letters" have as the president E M Robinson, and as the secretary, Jos E Bentley. The LEDGER itself has a name JOSEPH COULSON, that appears at front, and several other places in ledger.

Perhaps kept by that person. DATES of entries range from about 1877 to 1886, some dates are earlier, but may be when cow or bull was born. Ledger is a mix of BREEDER RECORDS, and or livestock references, as well as general store items such as cloth, barrels, cloths, shoes, boots, etc, and foods such as butters, flours and many others.

Ledger had 269 pages, but as you can see in a picture above, several torn out; from 163 - 260. Of pages present, 47 pages + or - are dedicated to breeder records such as those shown. Several other pages have headings, with no info.

Stock pages occur at front and back of ledger. Between are Grocery/general goods accounts. There are some blank pages, but mostly well used ledger. Ledger is full leather, with a Paneled spine and black leather insets.

Front and end pages are INTACT heavy marbled pages. Pages themselves are light blue. SIZE: 13" by 8 5/8".

CONDITION: Firmly bound, no broken hinges. Spine leather shows much abrasion wear, but LEDGER panel gilding is still nice. Small tears inleather at spine bottom hinge edges.

Very faint old book odor. Overall, in good condition for an 1870s book. Please see pictures for visual description. This great, old book will be a great addition to your Antique Book collection. Please see my other books listed.
