Rare Antique 1805 Leather KJV Holy Bible New Old Testament Mathew Carey First PA. Its cool & rare enough to find an 1805 King James Version bible thats a Mathew Carey published first edition for Pennsylvania... Its even more remarkable that this one is so well preserved & has the family history pages between the Old & New Testaments actually filled out!

The earliest dates are a birth in 1769 & a marriage in 1791. The most recent date listed is a death in 1904. The family history is of a Donaldson in and around Minneapolis. Included is a very well preserved & easily legible personal letter dated January 1805 that also appears to be faith-based. Nearing 220 years old, this book is no where near mint.

All pages are yellowed to the point of browning with considerable weakening, rounding & tearing along the outer edges. Surprisingly, the binding is very much intact & quite strong still. I didnt notice a single loose page!

The leather covers show their age but are also very much intact. The old leather locking straps have long since disappeared. The entirety of the book is legible save for some of the reference margins that have been worn from years of pious dedication, no doubt.

The only considerable flaw is one Ive photographed and included in the listing: the first 3 pages (including the Old Testament title page & the first few chapters of the Book of Genesis) have been torn away, leaving only the top 1/2 of those first few pages. Ive spent over an hour thumbing pages and havent noticed any others missing & nothing tore, disintegrated or bit me while I searched. I guess they truly dont make them like this anymore. THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL COLLECTORS ITEM. The items in the pics are the exact ones you will receive.
