Rare 1761 MINIATURE Martin Luther GERMAN BIBLE Printed in Halle Germany book

  

Complete: Old Testament, Apocrypha, and New Testament. Published at Wäysenhaus - Halle, Germany (orphanage). 1387 Pages - Original Binding. 5¾" x 3¼" // 3 thick. Printed in Halle, Germany, 1761, the rare miniature Martin Luther German Bible with wood board leather binding and with red-and-black title page.

Interior retains partial bookplate of unknown Johann Jacob of Bethel Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; further attributed to Johann Jacob Cunrad on reverse of bookplate. The Bible also contains an adhesive bookplate of the Historical Society of Berks County [Pennsylvania].

Publisher: Wäysenhaus - Halle, Germany. Size: 32mo - 5¾" x 3¼" not counting the cover Numbered Pages: 1387 Binding: Leather over Wood (original). Well preserved; f rom a non-smoking environment ; faint old book odor / no mildew odor. Overall bookseller condition: GOOD to VG. I find no marked, missing, or abused text pages.

First endpaper (with bookplate) has extensive silverfish damage, as do the last few pages/endpapers. Inner title page has a bit of the same. Cover (boards, spine) nearly complete (with age chipping), and still well attached. Both clasps are lost to time, though the brass posts are still there. The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues.

Keep in mind that vintage/antique books always show their age. It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please expect that there will be something about this book (or set) that's not perfect. I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER.
