For sale is this RARE late 16th. The piece is approx 9.75" (245mm) by 7.5" (190mm) It is housed in a glass Box frame.
(overall size including frame 15" by 12.75"). The piece has some loss to the edges maily at the top, the center image is of probably Saint Joseph a bearded man holding a child Jesus in one hand and a Lily in the other. There are two other figures below one of bishop Saint holding a quill, as there is a bishops mitre and staff beside him, underneath his feet on gold or gilt is the remains of his name only the first letter is left the letter B. The other figure is of a nun (saint) holding a staff there is a name underneath but I cant make it out.
In the center bottom is a crucified christ with another saint woman lying at his feet holding a cross and possibly a bible. The embroidery is a mix of pieces of. Silver-gilt-thread and coloured silks, Gold or gilt, satins or hide etc. A Rare early Museum piece well framed similar to.
