MERCK'S 1901 MANUAL OF THE MATERIA MEDICA: A Ready Reference Pocket Book for the Practicing Physician and Surgeon. The extremely rare second edition of this highly regarded phamaceutical reference work, which continues to be published today. The 1899 first edition is actually more common, and it is easily obtained in facsimile form. Copies of this second edition are scarce almost to the point of non-existence. This was a complimentary advance copy, as indicated by a slip affixed to the first page.

The book is in quite good condition. The flexible cloth covers have minor wear, including a small crease to one corner and slight fraying at the edges.

The binding is slightly cracked in a couple places but still sound, no loosening pages. There is a little soiling to front endpaper, otherwise the text is quite clean.
