And it is notated as a "Deluxe Edition". With over 800 Illustrations, this 718-page "profusely illustrated" book is a detailed look at beer-making around the world throughout the 19th century, with its main focus being on the United States. It includes detailed historical analysis on virtually every American brewery in operation in 1903. Also included are thorough discussions of every aspect of brewing history -- social, technological, architectural, statistical, etc. It is one of the few "cornerstone" books published on the history of American beer, breweries and brewing.

It contains numerous steel engraving portraits of the Fathers of the Brewing Industry from that age, along with detailed illustrations of the Breweries themselves. Adolphus Busch, Fred Pabst, Bernhard Stroh, and many others are included.

The gilt stamping on the cover is excellent. The text block is held tight still , but I had to use some binders glue to re-attach the first signature (16 pages).. The spine is still quite strong , even without the leather cover. If the new owner desires , they could have it re-bound , or just new covers/spine put on.

No foxing, or musty odors. The text is very clean , with no major rips, or tears, (some minor edge - chipping near the front) The 4-color Frontispiece did have a tear , that I repaired with document repair tape, from the back. There is a 9 inch section of the back-spine.

With the gilt embossing , that was with this book, and that will be included, as it may be able to put back on , if it is re-bound. It is a very nice copy.
