[ORIGINAL SANBORN MAPS, NEW YORK, MANHATTAN]. On offer here are TWO ORIGINAL - LARGE SIZE - 22.75 IN X 32.75 IN - SANBORN MAPS FROM 1928 NEW YORK CITY, MANHATTAN!

Both of the maps are in excellent condition and linen backed as they were intended to be used for many decades which they were. These maps (as evidenced by the included title page) were used throughout the 1950's & 1960's as evidenced by the'G. Bromley' correction labels which are variously dated.

The two maps also have later white labels which could be removed, but we left them because they seem to reference condominium development in the 60's. 1928 ORIGINAL SANBORN MAPS OF MANHATTAN ARE RARE.

Before they could genuinely become collectible, they were usually discarded for either a later version, microfilm (in the 70's) or a computerized solution. These two particular'Index' maps of major parts of Manhattan (of a larger area; sans the granular detail) are the most desirable for display. These two maps represent both the Upper Westside, Upper Eastside, Central Park and the 2nd map the entire Midtown area from 14th to 59th and East to Hudson Rivers. The maps also indicate widths and names of streets, property boundaries, building use, and house and block numbers. They show locations of water mains, giving their dimensions, and of fire alarm boxes and hydrants.
