Old & rare Miniature book with engravings in a unique 19th century wooden'magic' box. Le Petit Fabuliste - Paris, Firmin Didot , appr. 1840 - in red cotton cloth binding with gilt floral details. Miniature with thirteen fables and six woodcut illustrations - 3 x 2 cm - 87 pages - complete and in good condition, interior clean - first coversheet bears the 19th century manuscript (name) of a previous owner. The miniature book comes in a very rare & original wooden'magic' box with secret closure and woodcarved floral designs.

The box has two lids that can be opened seperately. The first lid can be opened at a carefully cut line wich is hardly visible. Underneath there is a small oval space... The second one , by lifting it up a little. Underneath you fine the part where the book can be kept.

Written there in ink In Dutch : W. J van Donk, Freule te huis v. Donk The box measures 7 cm x 3,8 x 1,4 cm and is solid and in good condition. A very rare and hard to find set...
