Rare Italian antique Byzantine style handcrafted wooden book cover of the Tavolette Di Biccherna of Siena. Two decorated wood panels, painted in polychrome tempera, gold gilt and gesso with leather spine. The front board has a lovely renaissance picture of a royal family event with shields below.

The back part is ornated as well and hand written Tavola di Biccherna. Rare and hard to find piece.
