Anyone who has studied the history of black or Italian urban neighborhoods has probably seen references to playing the numbers, a illegal form of gambling that predated government sponsored lotteries. Players placing their bets through dream interpretation or events.

Contains an alphabetical list of words and their associated number, 6 pages of mens and womens names, and numbers for each state, for sneezing, for wedding anniversaries, for happenings, years, months and days of the week, cards, and holidays. The final pages contain a list of Past Performances, the numbers that came up from 1933 to 1936. The book is in used vintage condition with signs of wear and tear but that just adds to its intrigue.

It even has some numbers written in pencil near the back that a person wrote down hoping to get lucky.. These books are extremely hard to find in any condition.
