Jerry Thomas' The Bartenders Guide is the first cocktail book published in America. I included a couple outdoor photos to show the True Color of this hardcover. Small nick in lower left of front cover Penny sized minor blemish on front cover on the word "Receipts" Small indentation on front cover on the O in "Cobblers" His mixing of the "Martinez", which recipe was published in this 1887 edition of his guide, has sometimes been viewed as a precursor to the modern Martini. Thomas developed his signature drink, the Blue Blazer, at the El Dorado gambling saloon in San Francisco. This guide has been in my possession in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 27 years.
