Antique RARE 1908 MACHEN KALENDAR German Fairy Tales Calendar Book Art Nouveau

  
Illustrators: Joseph Urban and Heinrich Lefler. This exceptionally rare and extraordinarily beautiful book is a first rate example of Art Nouvea illustration at the turn of the century. Published in Austria and written in German, it is a 1908 calendar book featuring German fairy tales, including Hansel and Gretel, with accompanying illustrations. These Art Nouveau illustrations are in beautiful condition and many are Gilt. The creators of this beautiful work were all of Austrian heritage and seem to have worked in the same art and design circles.

The text was written by the famous Austrian play-write Ludwig Fulda. The overall design and illustrations were created by Joseph Urban and Heinrich Lefler.

Joseph Urban was a well know architect, illustrator and designer whose work includes such famous sites as the Ziegfeld Theatre, the base of the Hearst Tower in New York and even the entrance hallway of Mar-a-Logo, Palm Beach Florida. Heinrich Lefler was Joseph Urban's brother in law and worked with him regularly. He is known for his costume and stage designs for the Vienna State Opera and the Metropolitan Opera of New York. This amazing piece of art and history is exceptionally rare. Size: 50 pages, 9.5 by 10 inches.
