Antique 1900 Book SLEEPY-TIME STORIES Maud Booth MAUD HUMPHREY Rare 3rd Printing. Offered for your consideration is this RARE antique children's book SLEEPY-TIME STORIES by Maud Ballington Booth. It was illustrated by Maud Humphrey, a very famous woman in her own right. She was born in Rochester, New York in 1868 and became a famous commercial illustrator, water colorist and suffragette. She won a Louis Prang and Company competition for Christmas Card design and then worked for the publisher Frederick A. Her work included many child portraits, calendars, post cards, greeting cards, fashion magazines and more than 20 story books. It is said that she used her famous son, HUMPHREY BOGART, as a model for her baby and children illustrations.

This book was published by G. Putnam's Sons of New York and London, The Knickerbocker Press in 1900. It is a stated Third Impression. The overall condition of this book is very good with minimal wear to the covers edges and corners. There is very light wear to the upper and lower spine.

The covers are the original beige cloth with excellent gilt and a salmon & light green design stamped on the front cover and spine. There is a dedication from a previous owner on the first blank page. There is some foxing and a little separation along the inner edge of the title page. The remaining pages are tight bright and clean with some pages having very light staining at the top of pages.

The tops of the pages have gold colored edges. The book contains 8 stories with 17 corresponding illustrations. There are 4 pages of advertisements in the rear of the book. The book measures about 8 1/4" by 5 1/2" and has 177 pages.
