Antique 1837 Illinois In 1837 With Map Amazing Map Book Rare Americana Northwest

  
An original book measuring approximately 8 7/8 x 5 1/2 and inside an original map measuring approximately 15 1/2 x 12 3/4 inches by S. Mitchell entered into the clerks office in the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania engraved by J. The pages have foxing throughout and some very small tears.

I confirmed all pages are included in the book through page 143 and then it is followed by 9 advertising pages and four blank pages. Top binding is holding book together.

Map has 3-4 small tears but nicely adhered to the book. It's amazing how solid all the pages feel. The book is very interesting and talks about all the IL counties with some interesting stories, i.

Battles with native Americans ("savages") at Ft. It also notes the growth of Chicago but it sure is funny to see it was not part of the biggest County. This appears to be the 1st edition and possibly the only edition every published since only a few years after this Illinois and the Union's growth was significant. The map colors are still brilliant and includes railroad lines! Thanks for looking at this fantastic antique IL book and map.
