German - Martin Luther Version - Complete. It is inscribed inside in quill (in German). (Translation kindly contributed by a fellow eBayer).

Elisabeth Haltaman daughter of Heinrich and Christina Haltaman Was born the 22nd day (of) May 1810 Baptized the 24th (of) August and the sponsors were Jacob Lahr and his wife Elisabeth. Publisher: Emanuel Thurnensen - 1798. Size: 16" x 11" approx. Printed on: Paper (not parchment/vellum).

Overall Condition: FAIR to GOOD. I'm not an expert in antique books, so here is a layman's description of the books. Here you have my best good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind, though, that antiquarian books always show their age, and in many different ways -- Don't we all! -- so please expect that there will be something about this book that you won't be thrilled with.

Please read my best attempt at full disclosure. Lovely antique patina/character, and very good condition considering it's almost 220 years old. The leather cover is where most of the issues are, especially at the spine -- where there is some missing material at one end. The other end has a piece missing, but I DO have that piece, as you can see.

The 2 original leather latches are gone. See blue arrows in photo. All 10 brass accent pieces are there, but a few fasteners have gone missing, so they need attention to re-stabilize. Having said all that, the INTERIOR IS GORGEOUS. Foxing as expected, but no signs of abuse...

Other than some dog-earing at one corner as you see. Also, someone wrote "1798" in pencil at the bottom of the inside title page. NO water damage, no mildew smells, etc. ALL IN ALL, there are condition issues, mainly exterior, and I believe ALL conservable.

Again, I'm not an expert, so MESSAGE ME if you'd like anything else checked. And please SUPERSIZE ALL PHOTOS. NOTE: It is normal for all antiquarian books to have had several owners, and to have hand-written names and markings, as well as age discoloration and wear. These features are likely present unless explicitly stated otherwise, and they are not considered grounds for a return. Also, digital photographs/images cannot represent the item with 100% true-to-life accuracy, especially as to details of shape, color, and texture. Fine (F) - No defects, little usage. Older books may show minor flaws. Very Good (VG) - Shows some signs of wear , Maybe be rubbed, little to no foxing. Most leafs should be clean and near-mint. Good (G) - An average used book with all pages present.

May have loose bindings, highlighting, cocked spine, or torn dust jacket. Fair (FR) - Well-worn and handled. But endpapers or title page may be missing.

Markings, but none interfere with readability. Poor (P) - All text is legible but may be soiled and have binding defects.
