Details: -The Author is Thucydides (460-400 BC) was an Athenian Historian, Humanist and General. Thucydides developed a deep understanding of the nature of man to explain behavior in such crises as plagues, massacres, and civil war. His philosophical influence changed the course of history for years to come in writing. The translator is Francesco Di Soldo -The publisher is Baldassar de' Costantini -On engravings: D. A man in a turban, seated on the ground, a pair of compases in his right hand, and an astolable in his left, as he point to the stars I.

Two men in large hats and long bears. One holds an open book which is probably Iudei Q. Quintus Curtius jumping into the gulf. A bound man kneeling and an executioner about to cut his head off.

The Coat Of Arms on the title page are of Sir William Pickering who was an ambassador to France in 1551 and later a suitor of Queen Elizabeth. He was one of the earliest of English book-collectors to have their arms stamped upon their books. The book measures 6" inches in height by 4" inches in width with 440 pages. The binding is solid and the pages feature minor foxing on most of the pages but otherwise they are crisp -There appears to be a notable signature on the final page of the book but I cannot make out what it says.

From the title page, I can assume it was the owner just experimenting with his pen. Errors and things to note: There is minor foxing on the title page and markings as you can see. The binding is solid and the page are in overall very good condition. The book is complete with no pages missing.
