Rare Antique Sterling Silver Novelty Book -Shaped Flask

  

American Novelty Hip Flask in the Shape of a Book! This fully functional flask is hidden in the shape of the book. Part of the Spine of the Book hinges back to reveal the hinged screw top where you open to add or pour out your liquor of choice. The spine of the flask has a decorative engraved portion where the hinge is. The flask is constructed of thick hammered silver on all the flat surfaces.

In between the covers the "pages" are even lightly engraved linearly on the surface. Unfortunately, the piece is not fully hallmarked so I have no idea of the maker. It is marked Sterling, along with the numbers 507 and 3.

Perhaps someone has run across on of these and will know the maker. This flask is 6 inches by 4 5/8 inches by 1 inch. Both the hinge and the screw top close and latch tightly. Please study the photographs carefully as they are a major part of the description. I will do my best to answer any and all questions promptly and to the best of my ability.
