To see my son's old books. It DOES HAVE ITS TITLE PAGE. TRUE STORIES from AFRICAN HISTORY, from the 1st dynasty to the present day. E P Dutton & co.

7.5" by 5.25". 46 Chapters Including , but not limited to. 1st Egyptian dynasty, "Sheppard" Kings, Israelites in Egypt, Rameses II, Ethiopian conquest, coming of the Persians, Greeks in Egypt, Egypt under the Romans, Saracen & Turkish conquerors, Wonders of Egypt, Napoleon Bonaparte in Egypt, battle of the Nile, changes in Egyptian rule, Alexander the Great, Hunting the slave Raiders of Soudan, a terrible slaughter, Gordon's heroic defense of Khartoum, Gordon's last days, British Pluck, Ethiopia, and several more [see picture 3 for most of the other chapters]. Charles-Georges Gordon , English General (1833 - 1885). In 1879 Gordon started serving Egypt as governor of Equatorial Africa.

Consequently to disagreements with the new Khedive he resigned in 1879. Only in 1884 did he go back to Egypt to save Khartoum besieged by Mahdis troops. He went into the city alone but he only managed to prolong its resistance. The following year Khartoum fell into the Dervishes hands and Gordon was assassinated. Photos carefully as they are part of the description. All of my books are VERY OLD and have 100+ years of wear to varying degrees. Very secure -much discoloration to the covers -especially the back /small bubbles to the left of the gilt man on front. Good, cracked once but pages secure. Outer joints - very good. Inner hinges - very good. Pages - Very good condition, clean & bright. Rips /folds - none that I saw, but there has been a small [maybe 1" by 1/2"] repair to a page tip - not effecting the text.

Other - Gilt remains quite bright. DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT MY OTHER BOOKS. Add me to your Favorites list.

AND check back now and then to see what's new! Otherwise I can't send you a new invoice. T can take up to 14 days to get back East.

This book is very old and. May have accumulated bad smells along the way [musty basement/ mildew/ smoke]. Dryer sheets in them for a few months makes a world of difference!

My nose doesn't work like it use to. So the old book smell doesn't bother me. As far as I can tell -this book has no smell.
