RARE Antique 1863 MISSALE ROMANUM Roman Catholic Church BIBLE BOOK Latin Pius V

  

Presented for your consideration is this VERY RARE edition of the Missale Romanum. This edition is the Pope Pius V edition of the Missale Romanum that was published in 1863 in Paris, France. It also is the version published after the Council of Trent. The Council of Trent occurred between 1545 and 1563 and was a formal reply by the Roman Catholic to the doctrinal challenges of the Protestant Reformation.

It helped to revitalize the Roman Catholic Church in the face of Protestant expansion. The Missale Romanum contains the complete texts and rubrics for the celebration of the mass in the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church. This edition has a very detailed color engraving that is opposite the title page and several full page, black and white engravings are throughout the book. Sheet music for hymns are also throughout the book. The entire book is written in Latin. It appears to be complete. Finished with a red leather hardcover with gorgeous ornate gold embossing on the covers and spine.

In each corner of the covers is a metal corner guard with a ornate pattern on it. There are brackets on the side edge of the covers indicating that this may have had closure brackets on the side. Gold gilt pages complete the exterior of the book. Guaranteed to be old and all original.

This beautiful looking book would make a nice addition to any rare book or Bible collection! Some of the pages and binding is loose. Spine covering has separated from the back cover.

Some mild cover wear with some tearing of the leather. Browning is present on the title page but doesn't seem to be present on any other pages. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details on condition. Measures 16 1/2" long, 11 1/4" wide and 3 thick.
