Up for sale is this rare antique 1818 copy of Richard Carmichael's. Observations on the Symptoms And Specific Distinctions of Venereal Diseases; Interspersed with Hints for the More Effectual Prosecution of the Present Inquiry Into The Uses And Abuses of Mercury, In their Treatment. The book is overall in good condition. The book is hardcover, bound in paper covered boards.
It has been professionally rebacked, but it still retains its original spine label. The book is illustrated with a great hand colored frontispiece. The covers have some wear as illustrated in the photos. The binding of the book is good and sound. The pages are mostly clean, though there may be the very occasional page with some minor imperfection such as some light foxing/staining, small tear, creased page corner or wrinkle or other minor imperfection that comes with a book this age.
There is a name inscribed on the title page as well as the rather humorous handwritten comment which says, Carmichael is a pompous ingenious blockhead. Apparently the original owner of the book didn't think too highly of the author... All in all a very nice copy of a rare antique medical book. Please look at the photos to further note the condition and message me with any questions you might have.
