Rare! 1839-70's Handwritten Cookbook Cake Baking Cloth Color Recipes Book Ledger

  
Measures about 8 x 6 inches. Ledger from 1839 to 1851, the first 12 pages of the book contain mostly payouts by the township treasurer for items related to the schoolhouse. Starting about page 13 the ledger was repurposed as a commonplace book and recipe book by Luella, and Ida Austin. Some recipes laid in, or stitched into the book with thread. Condition details: Quarter bound leather and marble paper covered boards, pages are coming loose some, some are almost detached, some leaves have pieces torn away, or are missing (cut out of book).

Heavy kitchen splatters from probably a century of use. Rear board is delaminating and missing paper cover in places, binding is loose. Childrens scribbles on some pages(no scribbles impacting the recipes that I noticed). However, some interesting recipes so many cakes! List of cake, and baked goods recipes in this book.
