EXTREMELY RARE ROBINS RIDE Antique CHRISTMAS 1880s Victorian Children's Book
ANTIQUE CHRISTMAS BOOK "ROBIN'S RIDE". This antique hardcover children's book "Robin's Ride" was published in Bavaria by Nister and Dutton. It is a small size (though not Nister's smallest size) and measures about 4 5/8" by 6 1/8". There is no date but looks to date from the 1890's.
It tells a charming Christmas story of Robin who gets a ride with Santa on Christmas eve. They travel to a fantasy land populated by Mother Goose characters and the north pole where they visit Santa's workshop.
It is illustrated with 3 full color illustrations and numerous small black and white pictures. In the middle of the book is a gorgeous color illustrations of Santa in his sleigh dashing through a snowy landscape. An usual Christmas fantasy with beautiful illustrations! Please see photos as they are an important part of this description!!This book is in exceptional antique condition, its only issue is that the staples have become loose & separated from cover at center of book. THIS BOOK IS EXTREMELY RARE! I finally found ONE OTHER COPY on WORTHPOINT. I took the description above directly from their web page on this book. Before there are any records that can be found of it.
This copy was given to me by my great-grandmother, who received it from her Mother. My great- grandmother came to America from Scotland in the early 1900s. From pet free, nonsmoking home.
