Training a beloved horse gives Terry much needed confidence. Review by Linda at goodreads: Terry comes to stay with her Wade cousins on Hobby Horse Hill for the summer when her parents go away to Europe.

At first she is stand-offish and thinks her three cousins are hooligans but finally she thaws and becomes one of them. There is a small mystery- regarding a magnificent horse named Cassandra, boarding with the Wades for the summer, and whom cousin Rod loves. Terry and Kate are about 13, Rod is 12, and Johnny is 6. She wrote picture-books, children's novels, and both juvenile and adult mysteries. She also wrote short stories, many of them published in children's magazines such as St Nicholas.

Two of her picture-books, Roger and the Fox (1948) and The Wild Birthday Cake (1950), both illustrated by Hildegard Woodward, were Caldecott Honor Books. Paul Desmond Brown is widely regarded as the pre-eminent American illustrator of equestrian subjects although he was never formally trained as an artist. Other: The book has been well-read, is worn on the edges (see picture) and could use some binding repair.

I flipped through every page and there is just one illustration that has been half colored in (see picture). I could not find any pages that were ripped or that were missing. This was a library book (Monson Public Library, Monson, Maine) and has check-out stamps (in the back) from at least 12/29/67 to 12/14/84. The word "Discard" has been stamped twice (once on each front cover).

Inscription: Bought at Anglican Thrift Store, Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, 7/92 Other books and drawings where Paul Brown was the illustrator: A. Look up the Chisholm Gallery 2.
