Antique Holy Bible, Leather Enclosed Silver Clasp, 1817 KJV Cambridge, Rare

Smith, Printer to the Cambridge University Press. The book measures 9cm x 14.5cm. Please look at all the photos for the best understanding of the condition and contents.

There are some signs of age, use and wear. The leather cover contains the book within itself with a flap and silver clasp. The surface of the leather is well worn, faded and discoloured.

However it remains well bound to the text block. The flap folds round connecting the clasp. There is a small round button on the clasp housing, to unlock the clasp you must lightly slide the button across and the clasp will pop out. To close you must place the clasp back into the housing, and then slide the button back across to keep it in place.

It appears fiddly when first attempting, however once familiar it becomes very easy. Care should be taken when first attempting so as not to damage the clasp. Some noticeable wear on the inside cover, and to the end papers. A blank end paper looks to have been removed before the title page, exposing the hinge gutter slightly, see photos. There is some occasional age/use related page discolouration/creasing dotted throughout.

For its age the text block remains in good useable condition, All text is clearly legible. Overall contents binding appears strong, tight and complete. There are previous owner inscriptions across the end papers front and back, seem to be references to particular passages etc. Overall remains in useable condition considering its 200 years old, an unusual self contained edition, with as described clear signs of age, use and wear.
