1870 BLOW BOOK Rare Mint Antique Magic Trick Flick/Flip Book Zauber-Bilderbuch
It is unused and in near mint condition particularly considering it is almost 150 years old. It has been retained unused and undisplayed since being acquired by Lewis Davenport in the 1890's. The modern version is known as a magic colouring book but this is a superb example of one of the earliest forms of magic tricks, described in both the Discoverie of Witchcraft in 1584 and Hocus Pocus Junior in 1635, and widely available until the end of the 19th century. " this booke is not painted thus as some of you may suppose, but it is of such a property, that whosoever bloweth on it, it wil give the representation of whatsoever he is naturally addicted unto ". The trick comes from The Davenport Collection which is one of Europe's largest collections of magic memorabilia & ephemera acquired by 4 generations of the Davenport family from 1898 through the 20th century to date. The Davenport family are the only family to have received the Magic Circle Maskelyne Award for contribution to British magic, own the UK's oldest magic shop and are all members of the Inner Magic Circle.
